Our goal is to introduce children and young adults to beekeeping!

Our next open Jr. Beekeeper Class will be held on April 26, 2008

(If you have a large group please contact us for an alternate date)

 

Class is from 9:00am till 3:30pm, doors open at 8:30am. Registration includes breaks and lunch.

 

The class is open to children and young adults between the ages of 7 and 18. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

During the class we will cover the different cast of honey bees, where honey bees live, what honey bees do, and the life cycle of honey bees. These topics will be spread out during the day. We will also have workshops where the children can assemble a bee hive, learn to use a smoker, and most important going out into the bee yard and open a bee hive.

The classes are held at the University of Georgia Honey Bee Research Facility. You can follow this link for directions to the lab.
