Basic Beekeeping Class

Cost: $20

Location: Statham, GA

Introductory class for those who would like to learn more about this incredible "lots art" of beekeeping. Bill Owens a Master Craftsman Beekeeper will be the class instructor.

Class will be from 10:00am-12:00 noon. Refreshments will be provided.

Bartow Beekeepers FREE Bee School

Bartow Beekeepers is having a spring Bee School. Bartow Beekeepers  Our purpose is to promote beekeeping in Bartow County and the surrounding area. The Bartow Beekeepers will have their spring bee school for anyone interested in keeping bees. This will be 'hands on' for beginners and anyone thinking about becoming a beekeeper.

The Bee School will cover:
-personal safety equipment
-the bee hive and hive construction
-lighting your bee smoker
-opening up a hive of bees and finding the queen

Starting a new hive by:
-installing a package
-installing a nuc
-dividing an existing hive
-and much more

The school will begin at 1:00 PM at Osborne Park (near Cartersville) in Euharlee, GA. The school is free to attend and will last three to four hours. Food, beverages and other goodies will be available.  For more information check out our web site at: www.bartowbeekeepers.com

Young Harris College and the University of Georgia are offering the nineteenth annual Beekeeping Institute, May 13-15, 2010. Since its beginning in 1992, the Institute has grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive beekeeping educational events in the Southeast. Classes are offered for beekeepers at all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. The Institute sponsors the Georgia Master Beekeeper Program and partners with the Welsh (U.K.) National Bee Keepers Association to provide North America’s
first licensing program for the Certified Honey Judge.

arnold Dr. Paul Arnold is Professor of Biology and Dean

Young Harris College. Paul is cofounder

Beekeeping Institute.

Honey Bee Lab.

Master Beekeeper and long-time
supporter of the YHC Institute.
sheppard Guest instructor, Dr. Steve
Sheppard is Professor of
Entomology at Washington State

Guest instructor, Michael
Young is a distinguished leader of the beekeeping industry in Great Britain. An instructor of culinary arts at Belfast Metropolitan college, Michael is also founder of the Institute of Northern Ireland beekeeping.

In 2009 he
was inducted by Prince Charles into Membership
